First I will start by saying that this movie was interesting. I am calling it movie and not documentary because this has mostly entertainment value, not really educational value.
This was mostly about a guy who claims to be doing it for the Sherpas and all about Nepal. At the end he even claimed that if the same feat had been done by a western it would have a bigger impact.
Let me break it to you, his record has been broken already, and by a woman who achieve more than him. His feat had barely any impact. This proves that there is no racism regarding these feats, the western is not trying to profit out of the sherpas. And with her no movie film has been made (so far).
This movie feels rushed and somewhat feels that something is missing. I don't see the love for the mountain, just the goal at the end of the day. The sherpas are named, but they were not listed along side him. He is the man reaching the goal, the team is just there to help him. The same he criticized the "westerns" of doing.
I go up many mountains, as a hiker, and to me it is all about appreciating the landscape on the way up. To love the mountain. And in this movie I saw little of that. The summit was the goal. The process is hidden and we barely see anything that leads to it.
