Following the show from day 1, I had very high expectations from the finale and it does delivers on all the front. The writing, direction, twists, character arches, acting are all exemplary. Oz Cobb, Sofia, Francis & Victor all these have one thing in common that they won something what they yearned for throughout the show but lost everything. And the great thing about the show is that they didn't have to represent it with dialogues and rather with shear acting prowess and gigantic writing skills. I am just in the awe for this whole series. It's the quality that you see once in a decade. Sony serving all the Spider-Man villains crap to us, should take home tuitions from the writers on how to make a movie/show about a comic antagonist.
So long since I have seen a perfect Indian movie. At first look it seems like a regular indie drama flick but the screenplay was the soul of the movie, the way they played with the timeline is beautiful and feels satisfying when you rewind the scenes in your mind in climax. Vijay Sethupathi chose the perfect story for his 50th film and he nailed it with his acting brilliance. I have seen Anurag Kashyap in many of his previous projects but he has never been so impressive as he is in this one. The supporting cast has also been good. Background scores are a little over dramatic at times but they never distract from movie. Direction is done brilliantly. The sad twist at the end was totally unexpected. The movie leaves a long lasting impression which is also thought provoking. This movie will always be up there in Top 10 list of the very best came out of India.
Trailer was cut extremely well but movie was underwhelming in terms of expectations. Based on the same tried and tested formula of vengeance by Bollywood as well as Hollywood. However a 'WIN' for Dev Patel as his directorial debut, The lack of experience is visible(especially the odd camera angles) but some of the shots and action scenes are shot beautifully, hope he gets more movies to direct and improves. The characters could have been more interesting to watch but they were too bland to deserve any concern. The dialogues were somewhat 'cringy' and also delivered badly by cast, it would have been better if the movie was made in Hindi and later on Dubbed for international markets, because the English speaking characters really doesn't go well with the slum setups. Facing a Total Ban in India must have been a letdown for Dev Patel as it could have boosted the film's buisness too an extent seeing the familiar Bollywood content and known faces of the movie.
