  • Has to be the best

I am cleaning my porn collection, throwing away so many films that have pleased me for years. And then, I come to "The opening of Misty Beethoven ". I take the time to re-watch it for the umpteenth time. and the magic still works. Kuzos for the scenario ( for instance, how brilliant to start it all in gay Paris ); for the acting of this unique porn male actor, Jamie Gillis, superb here as he may never be; for the presence of lovely Jacqueline Beaudant, so credible in her ecstasies; and, last but not least, the magnificent Constance Money, the unique Misty, the gorgeous, still frail-looking goddess of this unique production. And what about the music: this haunting beat-rising, savage and tender rhythm accompanying the love scenes (for that is what they are: real lovemaking action, no smut here, no way! ) This movie has to be in a class by itself, suffering no comparison to any other sex-explicit "pellicula". No doubt about it, Henry Pachard has surpassed himself. And " Misty Beethoven will stay here, in my Vidovic among all the others, all types merged, a jewel of its own.

  • fetiche movie for me

In 1964, at the age of 23, when " The Fall of the Roman Empire " was released, I was working in Toronto, living all by myself, with nothing much to do but going to the movies 5 evenings out of seven. On one of these blessed evenings, after a super-pastrami and fries at my favorite deli, I went to the movies, sat, and was totally swept off my feet by this fantastic epic production. I sat there, absolutely transfixed, and came back six evenings in a row, never getting tired of witnessing this brilliant outburst of acting. Holy Everything! And, still today, when I re-re-re-watch for the upteenth time what became MY personal fetiche movie, I still feel like Bobby Darrin, totally under the spell of that " black magic " of a cinema splendor. And I do hope they never try to think of a remake! It just would be some sort of sacrilege, and never, never could achieve what Samuel Bronson, Anthony Mann, Dimitri Tiomkin (musical score), James Mason, " bella " Sophia Loren, fabulous Stephen Boyd and Alec Guinness and Christopher Plummer " et all " have achieved. Long live " The Fall of the Roman Empire ".

Just plainly loved it. A movie critic from one of our local newspapers mentioned that we may still be asking ourselves questions at the end of the movie. And I sure did. But won't submit them. Could be spoilers. All I can say is DON'T MISS IT. Money well spent, and takes you away from your little daily chores and problems. It also made me discover Clive Owens as an actor. And for the rest of them, well, I do not believe Denzel Washington, Jodie Foster, Christopher Plummer as well as Willem Dafoe need much introduction, do they? And the intro music, as well as the generic one (at the end) will just rock you on your seats. Wonder if there will be some sort of soundtrack. Just ear-blasting. With a big buttered popcorn and an ice-cold pop, you will spent two very entertaining hours.
