The scene of the Titanic rising out of the ocean as a wreck and becoming, once again, the floating palace she was, is, I grant you, a cinematic marvel. When Cameron sticks to the facts, the movie is good, but I couldn't work up any sympathy for the fictionalized hero and heroine. There were so many real heroes and heroines during that particular sea disaster, why focus on two fictionalized characters? The movie ended up being a maudlin disaster epic.
Beau Bridges is an engaging rogue in this movie about an American who becomes an Australian convict. Jane Merrow is excellent as his convict wife. I don't think this movie gets the credit it deserves mainly because it is not seen that much. But if you get a chance to see it, do. You will be in for a pleasant couple of hours.
