  • Excellent view of the process of film-making and acting

This was an interesting show that I just happened to stumble on. I've seen Alison Duke in my neighborhood and at many functions and always thought she looked so familiar. She's a great director and I loved Raisin' Kane & Booty Nation. This was a cool chance to see her in action with no notes, plot, storyboard, whatever. I think her "topic" was infidelity which she randomly chose off of a board. You really have to be decisive and quick when doing a scene with no guidelines or structure in such a short amount of time and it worked. Her actors were capable on the whole but it was funny that they were both so unwilling/uncomfortable with nudity considering the topic and that it's supposed to be a creatively free atmosphere. I couldn't do what the directors do but I appreciate it more now.

  • Indian Mrs. Doubtfire...only funnier!

I LOVED this movie! I have just recently discovered Bollywood films and this one was on TV recently. It was much funnier than Mrs. Doubtfire with less goofiness and none of that hit-you-over-the head type of audience pandering. Even as a Black girl sitting at home I was able to understand and laugh at 100% of this movie. It's not often that I have the patience to sit and watch a movie that runs for 3+ hours but the complexities and hilarity were so well blended that I felt myself drawn to the screen. Not only did it have my rapt attention but I had to READ the entire thing so you know it's good when... Someone commented that they bought it on DVD and now that I know it's available I will do the same!
