I like Amy Adams. I like supernatural. I hoped with advertised comedy elements it will be a movie I can enjoy. Well, I tried and I really struggled. I get it motherhood is difficult, but, as a twins mom who survived, I really struggle with positioning motherhood as some sort of a torture. I survived two at the same time without any outside help and it was absolutely manageable. So, not my kind of premise really. And frankly as a movie it was rather boring and slow too. I think they should have positioned this movie different - like a drama rather than a supernatural comedy. This way they would have less disappointed viewers.
Fantastic entertainment exposing human nature in all its glory. I don't understand reviews here downgrading these games only because they eliminate "struggling" folks through "no fault of their own". Really? A decent really struggling person would take 19k in the first challenge, it's a huge sum of money for anyone who really struggles financially. Everyone who stayed afterwards was just a greedy idiot with the pipedream of getting rich fast without hard work. It's a gambling show and exposes all the sides of this aspect of the human nature and how it ruins lives and doesn't live up to expectations. If you watch it attentively it's quite clear it's just a social satire and caricature art form.
Well, I just finished Vanishing and rather disappointed with the waste of talent and resources invested in these series. These could have accomplished so much more, because in general the atmosphere worked, cast chemistry worked and there were some good ideas. But everything was ruined by the script. Was it AI written? Yes, sci-fi genre is usually quite forgiving in terms of plot holes. But this piece is either treating viewers as idiots or disrespects sci-fi in general: starting with billions dollar facilities manned by five people and finishing with high achievers AI wooden cutouts and "sexuality is a spectrum" stereotypes written in...
