Ugh all of these ersatz film "critics" clogging up the interwebs with their wordy attempts at...? Most all miss the fact of how revolutionary this movie was when it came out. It's actually fabulous.

who narrated it? driving me crazy - i know the voice and can't find. there are a few versions of the vignettes included in this show and they have different packaging so maybe that's why i have to dig a bit? both my son and i have enjoyed these visual extrapolations of what might have been; they are called theories. if we waited for hardcore scientific proof of every detail, we'd be left with our own imaginations. nice to have both, i say. and anyone who says "hogwash" and "jive-ass" in the same "review" is clearly a frustrated wannabe critic who uses IMDb as their "classroom" (like waaaaaaaay too many). how else can you explain such a misdirected and vituperative rant? oh yeah, maybe the individual is just miserable...in general. these DVD's are educational and interesting with just enough scientific proof and theory thrown in to complement the often silly CG. i guess you can let your kids fill up with everything Disney, this is a cool alternative.

While "Pieces..." isn't perfect, it is HARDLY the "tedious blah blah blah" of which the bitter unemployed critic wrote. HE/SHE either needs to get out of the city that has obviously failed to recognize his/her talent or needs to quit being weirdly jealous of the city. Can't tell which category He/She falls in but the hatred for NYC in his/her overly skewed critique is OVERBEARING. "Pieces..." doesn't deserve your misdirected angst. While short, each character was multi-dimensional and evocative. The story was entirely believable and not at all cliché as the thankfully unemployed critic (frustrated writer) would have you believe. And yes, the vistas are of the " only in New York" ilk, but that's a positive attribute in this movie. The walk up was just like one I lived in. Why take it personally as if the New York-ness in the movie is a mere contrivance? Don't be a hater just because you couldn't "make it there". My beef with most indie movies is when they use a city or a people as a lazy tool to tell the story when the writing is meagre. Pieces of April is NOT one of those movies.
