I have to admit I'm not really a huge batman fan. Batman always sort of lacked the 'superhero' magic for me. But I loved what they did with this movie. They took the 'lack of magic' and replaced it with deep, emotional connections and it wound up as a kind of introspective journey (for the viewer).
And I should know, by now, to avoid the forums what with their proclamations of Razzies, box office flops and "Katie Holmes sucked"s. The movie's just shot after beautiful shot (with lots of memorable lines) and I have no doubts in its success at the box office. Katie was great, given her small role; the others were perfectly casted (see who, above); and overall Batman Begins added up to a very wholesome and intelligently-crafted flick.
It's been a fair while since I've left a cinema truly satisfied; there always seems to be something missing. This, however, is a film that just has to be seen on the big screen. If not for Katie/Christian and some fun special effects, then for the sweeping shots of a truly realistic Gotham City.
