Full disclosure, I'm not a huge fan of romance movies and when I do watch them, I prefer rom-com style.
That said, this came on at a time I was too lazy to change the channel, so I watched it - and I'm sorry I did.
Regardless of the trite, formulaic script, this one tops the unrecommendable charts (or bottoms it?) with the absolutely uninspiring self-centered and self-pitying male lead - who's also not very handsome, though he might be if he ever smiled.
I cannot imagine what the writers thought made this character desirable but everyone else in the cast spent all their time fawning over him - sister, parents, and the seemingly easily convinced female lead who for some unfathomable reason put herself out to bake his favorite blueberry scones, which his sister blabbered about how much he loved, the second time they met. Before they even had a date.
This guy was awful. I really hope if you love romantic movies because you're looking for romance in your own life, you DON'T look at anyone like "Cole" as a possibility. Or if you are actually self-loathing enough to think he's attractive, please take this review as a warning to run fast and far, there's no successful way forward with this kind of narcissist.
(2 stars are for the brief scenery.)
