I just saw Anora and I can't believe the academy voted this movie over The Brutalist. Don't get me wrong, it was not a boring movie, Anora, but the story is so basic. I really thought it was going to be an original sad story about a sex worker that I have not seen or heard of before in a movie. I was looking forward to be blown away with the movie and acting since the lead won best actress. Although she did a commendable job, how did this movie beat The Brutalist??? Don't get me wrong, the academy voted for a lot of best pictures that I thought wasn't right i.e. When Shakespeare in Love won best picture over Saving Private Ryan, but at least I understood why Shakespeare in Love got nominated. But for the life of me, I can't understand why Anora got nominated? The Brutalist was a 3 hour plus movie and not one time did my eyes leave the screen. It was a beautifully directed movie with a great story and acting. It was worthy of the Oscar nominations. Anora sorry to say, wasn't. And I liked the movie Anora, it was a good watch and got me laughing and interested but it was not Oscar worthy in my opinion. It just felt like a regular movie and thats all. This time around, the Academy got this one wrong.
Can't say enough about this show. I found this late but lucky me because I was able to binge three great seasons! And trust me when I say three great seasons. I really thought it would slow down and not capture the magic of the first season. But completely wrong! One great surprise after another. Amazing writing, cast, and directing. It really never slows down.
Because all the story arcs for this show are written well, original, and a breath of fresh air! That it gets the audienced glued to the tube waiting to see what happens next. Of course there are some filler scenes but they are few and far between, I just fast forward roughly 30 seconds and aonther great surprise awaits! Would love a 4th season but if it ends with three, I am still very much satisfied!
