  • Surely Hallmark passed on this film

I'm pretty sure Hallmark passed on this film. This is a snoozer. The writing and story is just okay, but lazy and unrealistic in regards to capabilities and injure recovery time by a man of a certain age. The shaky camera is very distracting and makes the film feel dated in style. Besides McDonough and Jones the acting is just awful and forced, to the point where I believe I've seen better actors on the stage of community theaters. The story really wants to connect to the viewers emotionally, but ends up feeling like an expose of the sad condition of the US for-profit medical system fueled by greed.

This would have been better as a TV movie, as it has a few positive qualities, but I don't think any network or streaming service would have picked it up. I'm not sure how it got greenlit for a theatrical release.

  • One of the top five worst and most boring films I've ever seen

Watching this film and waiting for something to actually happen is akin to watching paint dry. I mean, there's more entertainment value watching two hours of QVC home shopping than this. It's in no way related to any other Amityville film or story as far as I could tell. That said, even losing the branding on its title still wouldn't help anything out, it's not a piece of work that can stand on its own at all.

I honestly don't know what the plot of the film is because it gets so boring and nothing happens, even the most dedicated viewer tunes out. I don't understand the director or producer's motivation for even making this film as I doubt it would be successful as a quick money grab even in second run theaters.

Even watching it for free on a free streaming service was a rip off. When someone figures out the point of this film or what message it's trying to convey, please comment it.

  • Production annoying to audience

There's nothing wrong with the writing, acting or directing. However, the music, which is really just ominous tones mostly, meant to stir emotion and raise tensions in the audience, just ends up being extremely loud, overwhelming, and distracting, so much so that I was no longer engaged in the story at all. The prologue of decompression is also unnecessary and fills like filler at the end of the film, exposing that the story really isn't long enough for a full feature film.

In the end, I left feeling that the entire production was a giant money grab targeted for an audience who only sees 5 or fewer films a year in the theater, rather than a more sophisticated viewer.
