As a standalone horror, this movie has a decent plot and some really good gory parts. It lacks a bit of momentum in the second half, but overall it's an enjoyable watch.
What I don't understand is why they felt the need to imply that this was an adaptation of the video game, because it's anything but that.
The story, plot, characters and everything in between is completely different to the game. There are few nods and references, but overall it is a completely separate entity to the game.
The game itself is pretty much an interactive movie. If they really wanted to make an adaptation, they could've used the same actors and followed the same formula. However, they didn't - which leads me to believe that this movie was never intended to be an adaptation of the video game. Which in itself is fine; however, they could've called it something completely different, because for fans of the game it's just another disappointment notch in the belt of video game adaptations.

The first few reviews that have rated this movie have obviously been written by friends or family of the director/writers.
In no way, shape, or form is this movie above a 5/10, let alone a 10/10!
I've rated it a 2/10 because the only decent aspect was the cinematography. Everything else was atrocious.
The protagonist in any movie is supposed to be likeable. Even if they're really the villain, they still need to be relatable and have likeable qualities so the audience will root for them.
The writers really missed the mark with this simple formula.
Apart from the fact that the acting was terrible, the main character was dull, boring, and really annoying at times, so it was hard to feel anything for her.
There are rules to follow when you make any thriller/horror movie. The main one being, you can't maim or permanently incapacitate your protagonist! There's a huge difference between them having injuries or maybe losing a finger, but incapacitating her in the way they did was a terrible decision and a very poorly executed attempt to deliver the shock factor.
Whoever made the decision to green light the making of this movie needs to sacked! I could honestly do a better job myself.

I wouldn't consider myself to be a transformers fan, but I enjoy the earlier Michael Bay movies. I didn't really plan on watching it, but I'm so goad I did! I'm 39 and took my 5 year old son with me. We were both engrossed the entire time! The animation was like nothing I've ever seen before. There was so much detail that it almost looked realistic in parts. The plot was actually awesome. I loved that it focused on the friendship between Orion and D-16. I could kinda see how it was going to play out; however, there is a moment when the transformers are formally identified and it's an awesome moment! The voice acting was second to none. Chris Hemsworth nailed it.
