I am a 40yr old twice-divorced mother of 2 sons (aged 20 & 6) and a very young grandmom to a gorgeous 10 month girl.... I becamed hooked on classic movies as a child in the early seventies when a local tv station would air old movies in the summer on monday nites @ 8pm instead of network fillers. This is where I first saw "Picnic" and "Jeanne Eagles". Later when cable came on the scene, I saw "Backstreet" one Sunday afternoon and fell hard. I will never forget after seeing "Imitation of Life" my mother ran into the bathroom balling her eyes out after seeing the funeral scene. That was when I realized that classic movies hold the key to so many people's emotions, hopes, dreams, and souls.

  • RIGHTEOUS!

Y'all Envelopians ought to be ashamed of yourselves to low-ball this dynamic Western! I've seen all the John Wayne movies from Red River to Rooster Cogburn and this one right here...is a truly an epic film. The beautiful widescreen shots, the supporting actors, the authenticity and the grit are absolutely compelling. The story is deep and thrilling. And the performance of LETICIA WRIGHT is OSCAR WORTHY!! But of course, most "people" are so threatened by theme of a Black Woman portraying a better "Cowboy" than anyone has seen since WOODY STRODE - really shrinks their fragile egos to the point of IGNORING this must-see Masterpiece! See this movie folks, because it's a damn good movie. Not to mention, "Surrounded" is the last film of the extraordinary late actor MICHAEL K. WILLIAMS - come on now, how can you miss out on that?

  • Regina King IS Shirley Chisholm!

I am so proud to be the 1st to review this remarkable film. The directing was precise. The storyline was factual and poignant. The sets and props were on point. The wardrobe was accurate. The lighting was ephemeral. The dedication was heartfelt. The acting....well the actors, these artisans were authentic, sincere and of the highest echelon of portraying actual people. But all and all, REGINA KING gave the performance of her life - thus far. Thank you, Ms. King! This is a must-see movie!! It needs to be seen by EVERYONE who cares anything about fixing our broken Democracy. Oh, Shirley Chisholm, how we need you now!~
