I have never before encountered a Superman that was as uncharismatic and gunlikeable as this one. The whole interaction with Crypto right from the start of the movie felt off. The same happened to me with the later conversation with Lois, where she tells him if he's thought about his actions and how he managed to stop a war through violence, and how that is wrong. His whole demeanour was kind of unblikeable, really. I can't explain it. This just felt off to me, like the humour tried too hard and made it impossible to be drawn in emotionally. If they wanted to laugh about themselves, they shouldn't have taken themselves as seriously. It was like watching two movies clash with one another.
I am tired of shows that make stuff for franchises that don't respect the basic tenants of the world. In case you didn't know, in WH, the marines share a gen seed, which is super rare and once lost is lost forever. This gen seed makes all marines in that chapter look the same. They have the same hair, the same color of skin, catch my drift? Then, there's the fact that if someone is alive, they would do the impossible to get back and continue serving the Imperium. And get the other bodies because again, gen seed. They wouldn't send their best troops on a suicide mission with cero chance. And the chainsaw being used the other way around? Why? It has never been used like that! This is why you can't have ppl that don't know the universe do stuff like this. Didn't even watch the rest.
This series is definitely not historical period. It's more like a fantasy driven revisionist alternative dimension were some characters share a name with some people from the past but can turn into animals.
Also, the supernatural elements don't gel at all with the story.
All in all, not worth it, not even as a time sink. How come this series got greenlit while some other good shows get the axe instead of a second season? I'll never know. Oh, and the casting is utterly meh despite some good choices.
For those comparing it to the Great, they must have watched a different show than I did, because the Great is everything this series tried to be and failed at. First and foremost, it is funny and pokes fun at itself and manages to land the jokes and really get the poignant moments across. This series doesn't manage any of those points, and the period representation is not historical or accurate like the Great is.
