  • A film that doesn't attempt to turn wrong into right, or right into wrong!

I've seen many "Vietnam" films in my life, but none have ever really portrayed a positive message of just how great the American GI can be. That is until now. A friend of mine bought this film from some web site and brought it over. At first I was a little reluctant, telling him, that I really wasn't in the mood to watch another 2 hours of a typical Vietnam vets "messed up and psycho/rapist story." i.e. Full Metal Jacket etc..

Damn am I'm glad I agreed to watch it.

My first impression was "where has this gem been and how come I've never heard of it?" The story is really about the American Ideal. It is not locked into Vietnam era. It reminded me more of a WWII story. Americans are sent into the jungle to get a Russian General who wants to defect to the USA. Veteran actor William Smith plays the general brilliantly. The acts that follow beautifully show how these selfless guys risked their lives for a positive pro-American "Ideal." In today's Hollywood, that is unthinkable with all the anti-American propaganda that is churned out. Even the individual characters in the film portray their roles with realism akin to the geographic regions of the US from which they come.

This is a great, great film done with subtly and insight to the true meaning of right and wrong. Unlike many of its counterparts, it doesn't try to turn wrong into right or right into wrong.

I'm going to buy this film for my own collection!

    Highly recommended!

  • Flawless acting and 95% accurate.

Having read most of the reputable books on Hitler's final days ie, Hugh Trevor Ropers "The Last Days of Hitler," "The Rise and Fall of the Third Reich" by William L. Shirer and "Inside the Third Reich" by Albert Speer to name a few, as well as majoring in History, I can attest that this film is THE most unbelievably accurate portrayal of the Third Reich's final days we are ever likely to see, and since most of the first hand observers are dead or in their final days it is very unlikely that any subsequent film will surpass this one. Time has a way of bending history to sway public opinion and suit current needs, and the more time passes, the more embellishments and subjective opinion can be inserted to distort true facts.

As the other reviewer mentioned, the acting is A+ and there is no need to reiterate what has already been said regarding plot.

I found a several points to be inaccurate. I will mention a few here: 1. Some of the timing of the events portrayed are inaccurate ie Hitler's visit to the garden to give the Iron Cross to the Hitler Youth fighting the the "Volkstuurm." 2. According to all who witnessed, Dr.Goebbels did not shoot his wife and then himself, he had an adjutant shoot the both of them in the back of the heads. 3. Bormann did not carry Eva Brauns body all the way up the stairs to the garden, Kempka did. 4. Also, and VERY importantly, German radio did not announce that the Führer committed suicide but quite the opposite, that he died a heroes death fighting at the head of his troops. This radio announcement was made by Doenitz (who at the time did not know how Hitler had died). This is a BLARING MISTAKE that the filmmaker should have known.

  • I agree

This had to be the WORST lowlife biker film of ALL TIME! I love it!!!! I saw it one night on Speed Channel (the Speedvision). Some midnight show I think. All I remember is that is was a bunch of outlaw bikers on motocross bikes...MOTOCROSS BIKES!!!! I mean what kind of outlaw biker rides a Husqvarna? I also recall that it was very graphic sexually, which makes it even cheezier. These guys pitched a tent in the desert and raped women, I think?

This may be the singular worst film ever made. That is why is must be released ASAP. Please release this on DVD so I can have a bad movie night party!
