I began watching this film with fairly high expectations. It seemed like a cool premise and something I'd really want to see. This film rose above and beyond my expectations, I really enjoyed it. I had seen almost none of James Purefoy's work before this one, and i think that he did an amazing job as Solomon Kane. He played the different sides of the character extremely well. He can play the ruthless, greedy Kane we see at the beginning as well as the pacifist Kane who has given up violence. I now want to see more of his work because of this film. This film had a smaller budget than some others in the same genre, and because of this some of the special effects looked somewhat cheep at times. They are still good, just based on how good the story line, the acting, and the all around feel of the movie was it should have gotten more funds. This does not change the fact that this is a very great film. I'd recommend it to anyone looking for a good fantasy or action film

I was very impressed by this Film. I felt like it grabbed me very early, kept me entertained and on the edge of my seat, and didn't let go until after the credits rolled through. I really liked Ed Harris' performance as the captain. He made me side with him while still giving the character the feel of a shady and dishonorable past. I only had one problem with this film and it is a minor one. The lack of a soviet accent by the characters, all the actors speak in perfect English. The only problem with this is that it makes it harder to identify the characters as soviets. This does not take away for the fact that this is still a very good film, it is just a minor detail I noticed. The end of the movie really brought it home for me, it was an superbly well executed ending to an all around good film. I highly recommend this to anyone looking for a good suspense film, people who enjoy war movies and anyone who just wants to watch a good entertaining film.

This movie was actually scary, it even scared me talking about it to a friend of mine like a month after seeing it. I highly recommend it to anyone who likes horror movies or anyone looking for a good scare. It has lots of twists and turns that kept me on the edge of my seat. All in all this movie was a really good movie for getting scared, it wasn't perfect but in my opinion these types of movies are meant to scare you and i think this one accomplished that. So if you are just looking for a movie for scary movie night then this might just be the movie for you. Thanks for your time i hope you enjoy this movie as much as i did, that is all.
