I have never watched any of the previous Star Trek stuff or given it much thought. I watched the 2009 film as it was a brand new modern version and tells the story from the beginning so it didn't matter that I was new to the franchise. I really enjoyed that film and was surprised to enjoy this sequel even more.

All of the characters and the basics are set out in the first film and so they are all developed further in this film. The relationship between Kirk and Spok was a really amusing aspect of the story line and Chris Pine and Zachary Qunito played these contrasting characters very well.

This film has a great range of action which includes physical fighting as well as a lot of fighting the kind you would only see in a science fiction like this. The character of Khan was quite captivating and Benedict Cumberbatch was very memorable in this role.

I definitely recommend this film (and the first one) to anyone whether you are already a fan of Star Trek or not. This was a science fiction full of action and funny moments too and I think people of all ages would enjoy. I hope there will be more to come.

Elysium is another film which depicts what earth will be like in the future and how our society and civilisation will survive. In this story the classes are even more divided and the rich and powerful all reside on the perfect habitat that is the space station Elysium, while the rest of the human race are struggling on overpopulated earth. The story follows Max, who Matt Damon does a great job of portraying, as circumstances lead him to go on a mission to disrupt the way of life and the inequality between the two.

This film has some great action which is bound to keep all viewers entertained and the whole futuristic aspect makes it more interesting. There were quite a few memorable characters in this film one of which was an unpredictable and manic Elysium agent played by Sharlto Copley. Also the relationship between Max and his childhood friend was quite moving and added more meaning to the story.

There were some gory moments in the film which I noticed shocked some of the audience but these were few and far between. Overall I think this was an enjoyable and gripping film which is something quite original and definitely worth a watch.

Jason Statham is one of my favourite actors, the type of films he is usually in are just my cup of tea and this is another great example. I only just got round to watching Crank all the way through and I absolutely loved it. The story line is simple but has a far-fetched streak which allows for all the crazy action to take place.

Chev Chelios is a brilliant character and he is driven to do so many impulsive and insane things because of the situation he is in. There is so much action and violent fight scenes and it is so fast paced because he literally has no time to slow down.

The whole concept of the film is really entertaining and the fact that the action is just continuous makes it extremely gripping. I also loved the comical side of the film, a lot of which is delivered through the character Chev Chelios. The fact that Statham does his own stunts just makes the film more impressive and genuine.

I absolutely recommend this film, short and sweet -definitely worth a try for anyone.
