  • The anime is better but this is pretty good also

I was curious to see what the live action movie would look like. They did a wonderful job casting several of the roles. In the anime, they have the ability to really handle the raw emotions of being excluded or picked on. In the live action, they count on you just being smart enough to fill in the gaps. We of course do and it works but the emotions are much more powerful in the anime.

It's the first anime that's made me tear up and the movie did it to me also. If you like the anime, I recommend the movie. If you've never seen the anime, I still recommend the movie and I highly recommend the anime.

There is a manga that goes a bit further than both the movie and the anime...just FYI...

  • great show...wish it was still on TV covering new topics

yes, sesame street and other shows teach the basics better. however, once your kid advances to the "how it works" stage, this program hits the nail on the head. my kid likes hearing how honey is produced and what the roll of the bee-keeper as well as the queen bee, etc. There are also a lot of factoids that he just will spout off for the next few days. Sesame street was great when he was 2 and 3, but now at 4, its magic school bus time.

we just recently discovered the books and they are great also. we do story time before bed every time and usually its at least 5 books. one of these books takes about 20-30 minutes though because there are a lot of factoids in each of them and reading each and every one takes time. i learned quite a bit myself. i kind of like the book better than the show.

  • just an amazing movie

i never watched firefly while it was on TV. the pitch line, cowboys in space never appealed to me. while surfing amazon, i saw how highly rated the show was so i ordered the complete series. wow...i was blown away. it was awesome...how could it be taken off the air? I then discovered the movie which was also highly rated. i just now saw that and completely feel that its one of the most amazing movies I've ever seen.

i'd love to see more of the show, but i think whedon wrote serenity as a swan song. i hope not, but it does feel like an ending of sorts. I always liked the chemistry between the cast. while i liked the romantic tension between inara and the captain, it was the way river looked up to the captain that really intrigued me. i would have liked to seen that developed more.
