The vibe is obvious. A homage to Miami Vice. The theme, tension, even the background music. I liked it. Not as emotionally deep as MV IMO but a very solid episode. I hope they develop the "peripheral " characters further. They remain a little too stereotypical currently. The story line is interesting and the background story of international VIPs adds complexity to the story. This is just the firest series so i hope they develop characters further in subsequent seasons. If they do I will definitely continue to watch even though I worry about typecasting and the formalization of plots. Looking forward to seeing the next episodes.

It looks like The Professionals aka CI5. It doesn't have chemistry like Bodie and Doyle or Starsky and Hutch. Busy, busy but no character development. Various periods of "plot discussion " mixed with violence. It doesn't elevate this show in any way. Little wonder that they only made a single season. If they wanted the longer season they should have had parallel storylines. Boring by E5. . The "boss" is annoying without being a source of wisdom. Trevor Eve plays a good role but is insufficiently used to maintain the tension. Everything could have been darker and more threatening. Could do better.

There was always a little something that separated Luther from reality but this movie extends it beyond a breaking point. Ignoring the plot holes the story progresses in a haphazard manner according to a Hollywood meme of "evil genius " against Luther. The Luther character has been sacrificed for movie thrill and Elba should worry that the franchise is headed awry. The last 30 odd minutes "in Iceland' are borrowed from a 007 movie and run far too long. The movie held my attention but did not either fulfill my expectations or extend my understanding of the Luther character or timeline. If another movie is contemplated I hope they engage a better script writer.
