Well, that was massively disappointing. Even from the garish opening credits, a bizarre scene of a sea of blood flooding a marble city, I knew this would be a flop.
Name a flaw and this show has it. Ham-fisted exposition. Predictable twists. Protagonists encased in ten feet of plot armor. 2D characters. The plot being pulled along by forced events rather than flowing forward like a river. Worst of all, a total lack of historical accuracy.
By the end of Episode 10 I was rooting for everyone but the Northman to die. I knew of course that wouldn't happen but I wished it all the same. Clearly they are preparing for a second season. I will not be watching and I recommend skipping this first season.
Only reason it's not 1-star is the musical score. That was excellent. As for everything else, I envied the man in the opening scene whose throat was cut. At least his suffering ended quickly.
