Simply a warmed over version of Bram Stoker's Dracula from 1992. Don't get me wrong. It was great to see Willem Dafoe in this film, and he did great. But it didn't compare to Anthony Hopkins playing Professor Abraham Van Helsing in the '92 version. But far too much was borrowed from the 1992 version, other than a vampire's destination. Nosferatu travels to Germany to claim his property, so why did he need to travel by ship? The sales agenda didn't need to take a ship. A lot of the story line didn't make sense. It was too disjointed. I cannot recommend that you watch this at home at any expense and time spent.
The script was very good, because many of the talking points made today in Bigfoot docuseries for TV, have made the same arguments. Forrest Tucker is in the lead role, and his dialog is well written. I think it's his best work, other than starring oppose to John Wayne. Tucker doesn't play a true villain in this film, since his character's ambitions are logical, yet exploitative - and it's uncertain if he truly cares about human life, or only realizes the value by the end of the film. Peter Cushing also stars in this film, but I liked his role in Star Wars much better. They might be able to do a remake of this film someday, but the conspiracy lesson at the end of this film was intelligent and reasonable as a motive.
Everyone did such a great job making this series. And the music picked for the various scenes was awesome. The first season was a bit cartoonish, but by the end of the series in season 4, I couldn't stop watching it. Jasper was my favorite, with his cool resolve and candor. The series was cut short by one season because of producer scandal. What a shame. It was more scandal than the real royal family, but not by much. There's still time to do a fifth season, or movie. I hope they won't let this go without giving a proper ending to the story, but I must admit that the final episode has a certain style to it that I liked. Very mysterious.
