  • Good, harmless fun !

I remember how, after watching the Malayalam classic - Punjabi House, my friends and I spoke to each other in 'Jabba...Jabbas' for a whole day (the movie had been about a deaf and mute couple falling in love).

And perhaps the only reason you hear so little about this movie (Vaaya Moodi Pesavum / Samsaram Arogyathinu Hanikaram) is because the second half, which is reminiscent of the Charlie Chaplin silent movies of old, quite simply leaves the audience speechless.

The plot is silly and a bit predictable, but that's exactly what makes this satire worthwhile. Was there a message in there somewhere? Maybe, but director Balaji Mohan delivers it subtly and at no time does the movie or its characters feel preachy.

The movie might not be a critics' favorite, but its good, harmless fun.

  • A Good light-hearted one time watch.

This movie, to sum up in one line is a humorous, intellectually stimulating adventure. It is comical, but more in the fashion that fans of Hollywood satirical-comedy genre would enjoy, not the mimicry and slapstick of our domestic Malayalam ventures.

The movie is a thought provoking satire on relationships, so if you are someone who doesn't like to think or takes too long to get the joke, this flick isn't for you.

This movie doesn't have a star cast to boast of. Jishnu deserves special mention for his outstanding feat on-screen.

Then there's the late Thilakan and Siddique whose performances were remarkable as expected.

The rest can at best be only considered seasoned-amateurs. But the movie delivers on all fronts with a robust script and good direction. Do note though that it is only for the open-minded & not everyone would agree with its culturally forward ideas.

It is so unfortunate that good releases like these go unnoticed while a few Superstar duds grab all the attention. I sincerely hope that unlike the great Malayalam movies of yesteryear that were neglected for being ahead of their time, this one is not ignored at the box office.

Whether you agree with the theme of the movie or not, you'll find it impossible to walk out of the theater without an opinion.

  • A youthful love story that crosses communal boundaries...

Rating... 8.5/10 At heart, director Vineet Sreenivasan is a musician first and like his soft songs, every scene and line in the movie is rendered with a youthful symphony pleasing to the soul. Perhaps even more praiseworthy is the way he has brought out the best in everyone including the child artists.

Protagonist Nivin Pauly has delivered a good performance and his compatriots in the movie fit well into their characters. This bunch of next gen molly-wood actors show promise. Isha Talwar is beautiful and has the makings of a future Katrina Kaif... And that means exactly what u think it does :) She has few scenes where any acting is warranted and even fewer lines, perhaps because her lip movements are out of sync with the Malayalam lines, to do justice -a language that is foreign to her.

The music is wonderful, but you probably already new that. The story delivers its message subtly without compromising on entertainment.

Its been a while since I have seen a good portrayal of young love in Malayalam cinema... This one was definitely worth the wait.
