This is not, nor is it trying to be, a masterpiece of the genre. It simply pays homage to all those movies that other reviewers on here have mentioned are superior. It's giving fans of those better movies SOMETHING similar to watch, good or bad. Personally, I give it a 7/10 out of respect.
To all those saying they don't understand how it's possible that there are positive reviews for this $1m film, you need to put into context how fans of this genre are absolutely STARVED for this kind of entertainment. We get a movie like this every 8 years or so. Before this there was Hobo With A Shotgun (that had 3 times the budget), and after this there's been what? To quote another movie "They're so thirsty for it they'll crawl through the desert toward a mirage, and when they discover there's no water, they'll drink the sand."

I imagine Holness grew up watching 70s dramas and crime films set in British dreary locations, and this short feels just like them. In my opinion it captured that brutalist look and feel better than Red Riding did a few years before with a much bigger budget.
It's not easy to mix humor with this tone and subject matter, but I did chuckle twice and actually laughed out loud (doesn't happen that often) when Terry gets kicked out of the hospital.
Also, this is not exactly a short, it's more like the first act of a feature length movie that (sadly) never got funding. In its own way this short is a masterpiece.

I watched a TV advert of this movie back in 1990 when I was 9 years old and thought it looked awesome, and the music was so catchy. Bud Spencer and Terence Hill were my jam back then. But I forgot about it the date and time it was going to show on Italian TV and they never showed it again, and I kind of forgot about it, until much later when I obtained the theme song in mp3 format for nostalgia reasons. Still, I never got round to watching the actual movie. Today, 34 years later, I watched the English-dubbed version with my 7 year old daughter. Let me tell you, this movie never lets up. There's maybe a minute of dialogue here and there between crazy things happening or brawls breaking out. It's a fun ride. Certainly different from the modern movies my daughter is used to watching - she had a blast, by the way. And for me, yes it's obviously dated (it doesn't hold up as well as They Call Me Trinity) but for the dumb comedy for kids that it is, it's very good. Bud is in great comedic form. The kid who plays the alien is effortlessly cute too. Not gonna lie, this movie put a big nostalgic smile on my face. Given all the above, I rate it a 7/10. Your mileage may vary.
