In my reviews of shows like this with multiple episodes, and continuing plot lies, I do not look at reviews or even ratings prior to watching it and writing a review. I guess I'm a tad disappointed there's been so little viewer activity, though Ballard debuted on 7/9.
OK, on to Haystacks, episode 2. Solid. The supporting cast is getting involved and Ballard is leading them well. I like how she stands up to "the suits" and sells her POV. For example when Harry showed up Ballard seemed shocked, but sold him on the case, and,...she's making enemies, just like Harry did.
The blueprint for Ballard has a great outline to follow.
Cannot wait for the next episode. I think this 10 episode series is going to go fast.

I've been reading & watching Bosch sine the beginning, incredible books, shows, character, everything by Michael Connelly is top notch, and it looks like he doesn't miss the mark w/ Ballard. She has an edge to her, she's thorough, she's tough, just like Bosch. I wouldn't have thought of Maggie Q as Ballard when I saw Ballard on the written page, but she works. I'm not so sure of her support team, but it's only the first episode, I'm sure it will be fine.
This show is different from Bosch ( and that's OK), but it has much the same grit, must be the LA locale. Of course there's the higher up brass that's going to cause issues. I guess because I've been so involved with Bosch since The Black Echo, this feels like a worn in pair of jeans. I miss the Bosch series, but this is going to be just fine.
Cannot wait for future episodes.
