First of all, let me say that I didn't dislike the movie at all, but my overall rating has to be considered lower than what the ideas it exposes (or just "hints") may deserve.

There are so many ("potentially", someone could argue) good ideas in this movie that they could have turned them into a series of movies or whatever: instead, they decided to fulfill the rules imposed by theaters and tried to stuff all of them in a standard length movie.

By watching the movie it seems that the writers were more used to writing either TV-shows or comics (although this is not the case), which are two formats that give writers the time to put many ideas in a media, and to explore every idea as deep as one wants to.

Skydance even announced years ago that they were going to make a new TV show for tying the new movies together, but it's unclear if and when this is actually going to happen.

I personally hope they will, and I'm looking forward to seeing some of the many subplots explored more deeply...

It's also possible that, pushed by the will to make three movies before 2019 (when the main copyrights are going to revert to James Cameron), they wanted to push all the ideas they had in this movie: they could have released a two parts movie with a little higher budget (of course, very few "occasional viewers" would have appreciated the idea), or released it as a longer movie for a little bit higher price (theaters don't like long movies: in the era of relatively cheap 40-50in FullHD TVs theaters should stop trying to impose their rules, if they want to survive).

The plot is: almost absent, really bad, and completely unoriginal. Mix a bit of Independence day (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0116629/), a bit of Dark City (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0118929/), add another 90% of special effect action scene, forget to explain almost everything ala Cloverfield (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1060277/), and you get something better than Skyline...

The special effects are unoriginal too: some monsters really seem to come from Matrix, some others from the Doom video-game saga... nothing of interesting...

What I found very good, increasing the final rating I left for the movie (that originally was 3/10), is the quality of the special effects (their carrying out) compared to the very low budget: IMDb reports the movie just cost $10,000,000, which is almost nothing compared to many other movies' budget, which usually reach the same level with 100-250 million $. If there was an Oscar for the best special effect per $, this movie would deserve it... but it would also compete for the Oscar for the worst plot...

This being said, don't watch it!

I heard about this show many times, but I never wanted to watch it. Eventually I went to meet a friend who was watching it and watched a couple of episodes...

Boring is for sure the first word to describe it! It's a mess up of grotesque scenes that should be hilarious but result to be only annoyingly stupid, with characters that like to humiliate themselves with the useless hope that the watcher should consider this funny...

I don't know how can someone have decided to film a second episode if this is the average quality of the show: a show that (as 99.99999% of that kind of TV) has the only purpose to brainwash the viewer up to the lobotomy!

Don't waste your time watching this horrible mess-up of nonsenses, it's not healthy for your brain!

I watched this movie on TV years ago, but since it was already airing when started watching it, I missed the first two or three minutes. The movie wasn't as bad as its rating could suggest, it was maybe a 7 over 10...

I tried to re-watch it and so watched the first minutes: they completely ruin the whole movie, contains spoilers, and make some details nonsensical!!!

If you haven't watched the movie yet, and you want to try, just skip the first 2 or 3 minutes.

I guess the opening titles has been added after the movie was completed...

This is a great Sci-Fi movie made with just $16,000,000. It's filmed in L.A., and, if you know something about filming costs, you know that $16,000,000 is a ridiculous budget AND that L.A. is one of the more expensive places to film in.

But this movie has something many other ones don't: a good plot!

The 13th Floor changed my way to think a movie by showing me a great film that has almost no special effects. The story doesn't need them, they'd have probably degraded the movie, contaminating its plain noir atmosphere. This is even more relevant if you think that it's a Sci-Fi movie, so a genre that usually (together with action movies) exceeds in special effects and stunning scenes.

I've been so lucky to watch it years before the "other so-called similar" movie (that actually isn't similar at all) which partially overshadowed this masterwork, so I appreciated The 13th Floor much more (and never really appreciated too much the other one, that would have been nothing without special effects).

I suggest everyone who likes good stories (not only Sci-Fi) to watch this great movie, I ensure no one will regret.

Are you looking for a fast action-packed show, with a lot of fights and explosions?.

Are you looking for a massive sequence of impressive special effects?.

Are you looking for something to watch just to watch it, maybe if and when you want?.

Yes!?.

Go away!. Seriously, go away, this show is not for you.

This is the best, much intense drama ever appeared on a screen! I know its name is misguiding, but, while Fox expected exactly what you could figure from the title, its creators wanted something different. This is a show about characters and their evolution... and not only human characters!. This is a show you'll like or dislike, but, in the first case, you won't be the same.

Warning: T:TSCC CAUSES ADDICTION!.

I've been skeptical about it for a long time, then I decided to watch it. Wow! You can't compare it with the movies, since it's something of different: sure, it's always Terminator, but from another point of view. While, in the movies, we have a story mainly set in very few days, here we go deeper in the life of the characters to understand what/who they are. That's why even many non-Terminator fans liked TSCC, and also why many "fans" didn't. If you like it, you'll re-watch it many times, you'll think about it... Do you think I'm joking? Try it by yourself!. I've watched many shows, I liked some, appreciated some others, disliked few. I've re-watched some episodes of some shows, just because I remembered of them now and then... but I had never watched a whole show (from the first to the last episode) more than one time before (actually, I don't know how many times)! I had never bought the DVDs of a TV show before! I had never wanted to watch a show/movie in its original language, to be sure not to lose something, before! Don't think I'm the only one, read other comments here, many says the same things.

You won't understand the real power of the show till the end, so don't believe negative reviews written by who has watch just a few episodes, maybe just the pilot. And don't judge the show by the first episodes yourself: the pilot was for Fox, not for you.

Now, if you've decided to watch it, just a simple suggestion: BEFORE watching the show, watch again the first two movies INCLUDING THE DELETED SCENES. Also search and watch James Cameron/actors interviews about the second movie/deleted scenes.

I repeat, the deleted scenes from the movies are very important to understand the show! (and also the second movie itself)

Definitely 10/10

There's nothing more to say about this movie than the title of my review.

I don't know how could have come in my mind to buy that DVD...

After 15-20' it was clear it was a copy of that (fantastic!) X-Files episode (Monday - season 6 episode 14), and I'm surprised to read that no one of the other reviews has reported this...

I was going to stop the DVD after 20-25'... Then I wanted to watch all the movie to see if there was something better...

Useless to say, there wasn't...

Just to say, the movie begins after a long, boring and senseless opening title I personally jumped...

If they wrote something like "The characters in this movie are fictitious: no identification with actual person, places or video game characters is intended" (and used different names) it was a fairly good movie.

Sincerely, I loved Max Payne games, and I'm completely deluded by this movie: that is NOT Max Payne.

I think the main problem is that Max Payne itself (the game) is not only a "third person game", it is a "first person movie".

If you try to make a movie with the same story you will only give the viewer... a déjà vu!

More, the movies covers less more than half of the FIRST game story...
