The description of the movie plot sounded so mysterious and intriguing! With the the topics of cults & murders, i was expecting an exciting & mysterious movie. Sadly, this is more of a slow-paced drama than a thriller. The first hour was the worst, with no intrigue or mystery building. I'm not sure if it is the story, dialogue or action (or lack thereof) that makes the viewing so darn dull. But it's quite bland. Now admittedly, the last 20 minutes were more exciting, and the last bit does rather make some sense of what you were watching in the hour or so previous. The last 20 minutes, however, is not enough to redeem this movie. Unfortunately, despite the good acting & production overall, the story just falls flat.
I watched this series based on the high rating and good reviews. I don't agree with the high rating on 2 bases:
(1) this series should have been 4 episodes but the producers really drew it out to 8 episodes for some unknown reason. Show could have been much tighter, and by consequence, more captivating. It was long & slow. Finally became interesting by mid episode 6.
(2) The trial scenes were ridiculous. I am admittedly not familiar with Italian legal proceedings. But I am confident that, as counsel, you don't get to heckle your opponent's witness or your opponent, make random speeches & editorial comments.
Bottom-line: Long, drawn out drama, light on the mystery element, and heavy on unrealistic courtroom theatrics. It's a "no thanks" from me. 6/10.

I was convinced to watch this movie by the high ratings on here. I'm not sure who the people are who found the movie to be so enthralling, because I found the movie to be totally cringe-worthy. The two main characters aren't very likeable or convincing. They are not very good actors. The movie starts out with the couple talking to the camera - or at least to webcams as they stream themselves sitting in their living room. It's awkward. I definitely don't recommend paying to view this movie - at the very least wait until the movie shows up for free on one of your streaming services. Even then, I recommend taking a pass.
