How can anyone like this garbage?

Feels more like a therapy session than a TV series. Everyone talks about their feelings. And talks about their feelings. And talks about their feelings.

They even discover that they have to communicate with feeling to this new species.

No likeable characters other than maybe Booker or Saru.

The first seasons of this show were pretty bad. I only watched them because I have Paramount plus for other shows and have always loved Star Trek and feel I need to watch this because it uses the Star Trek brand. But, as bad as they were, this season makes the first seasons seem wonderful. I've actually decided that even if they don't cancel this horrible series, that my time is too valuable to keep watching this. I only wish that Paramount Plus would allow us to actually rate their shows like some other streaming services do.

I've never liked this show, but I've continued to watch it only because it calls itself Star Trek. I do like Picard, so I'm not opposed to all things new Trek. Originally, I had trouble with everything being re imagined and ignoring so much of established canon. This 4th and hopefully last season is beyond terrible. They should call it "Star Trek: Discover Your Feelings and Share Them with EVERYONE". "How does that make you feel". Even their computer is now getting into it. There's more of this type of garbage than you would find in a daytime soap. I'm actually at the point where I don't even care if this anomaly ends up destroying the galaxy. Whoever is running this series needs to find a new line of work.

  • low budget. poor direction. bad acting

Low budget. poor direction. bad acting. other than that, not bad LOL. The only good thing I can come up with is the actress who played Scarlet did a good job. The rest was melodramatic and hard to watch. One other annoying thing was how they kept jumping back and forth with repeated long scenes. These were hard enough to watch the first time. It really felt like they had only a 45 minute movie, so they tried to stretch it into 84 minutes by chopping some scenes short so they could replay them in entirety later. I really hope I don't run across any more work by these clowns. Oh, and there was a VERY huge continuity mistake. So I don't have a spoiler, I won't say who. But someone with a very noticeable bullet wound on the left shoulder suddenly has the wound on the opposite shoulder.

  • completely nausiating mini-series

I think this could have been a pretty OK program. Whoever made the decision to have so much of the camera work be on the shakiest hand held camera should be banned from the industry for life. I could have done better filming it with an old hand held movie camera without any image stabilization. It felt like they were doing it on purpose to add to the suspense. But instead all they did was make it nearly impossible for most people to watch without throwing up from motion sickness. I was interested in the story so I soldiered on, but I had to watch it with many long breaks over a number of days because of how bad the camera work was. One strange thing was that the only shots that weren't shaky were the CGI shots. Those were perfect. I guess they were too cheap to try to keep the Dramamine effect going during those (thank goodness). I probably would have given up on this after the first 20 minutes if Terry O' Quinn hadn't been in this. I won't say how it ended; only that I was glad when it was over so I could put away the Dramamine. If I had it to over again, I would have skipped this one just because of the really terrible camera work. These producers and camera people should be ashamed.

  • Entire movie shot from point of you of being a camcorder.

I HATE movies shot as if from a handheld camera. I'm still motion sick from having watched it. If I wanted to watch this kind of garbage, I'd watch other people's home videos. That said, I watched the entire thing, since I bought it (My bad for thinking that just because I like this director's other work, that I should buy this). It did have a story and some big surprises, but none of that made it worth sitting through for 1 hour 34 minutes. I sure hope someone else would like to buy this from me since I have no desire to ever sit through this again. Truly AWFUL! 1 star is being more than generous.

  • To me, the worst MCU so far

This is the weirdest MCU movie I've ever seen. I found the entire mysticism based story to be completely absurd. Great mind blowing special effects, but the story required much more than the willing suspension of disbelief. Some things just don't fit into the MCU, and this character and world should be left out. Hopefully, they'll leave this out of any future MCU storylines. This is the first MCU movie that I found myself looking at the clock counter of the disk so I could figure out how much time was left.

  • Not Trek

This is an insult to 50 years of Star Trek. Completely screwed up Klingons. The Federation seems much more advanced than in any previous Trek series, even though it is a prequel to all but Enterprise. The characters show no hint of any Federation values. Gene Roddenberry's optimistic view of the future is spit on at every turn. I did watch every episode of this garbage hoping it would somehow improve. It never did. It only got worse. For all of you that complain that you'll have to pay to watch this series, I offer you a very good solution: Don' bother. Kurtzman and Abrams should be banned from all things Trek. As far as I'm concerned, Star Trek ended with the final Next Generation movie.

  • terrible

This movie was absolutely terrible. I hate movies that use hand-held low tech cameras and try to trigger my motion sickness throughout. I found myself wondering how much time I had left until this terrible movie would end. IMDb needs to create a category to warn people about false advertising done to try to lure in people who want a certain kind of movie. I was expecting "Day after Tomorrow" and instead got this useless excuse at film making. Now if you like amateur type film making, then this one might be for you. My biggest surprise is how many people gave this movie good reviews. Makes me wonder if I can trust user reviews any more than I trust "film critics". Thanks for taking what should have been a very entertaining movie and going out of your way to make it hard to watch.

  • I must be the only one

I hated this movie. The special effects were good, but the way the movie was put together was terrible. I hated the documentary style instead of the normal way movies are presented. Usually its nice to have someone to pull for, but I found myself pulling for a quick end to this flick. I tried to give it a chance, but I kept finding myself looking at the display timer so I could find how much time was left. The worst part was expecting a different kind of movie because of the cover art and commercials. What a let down. I was hoping for "War of the Worlds" instead I got Battle to Stay Awake. I didn't care about the big overgrown bugs, I mean aliens, who acted like thugs through most of the movie. I didn't care about the main human character either. He got a little more likable once he decided to trust the bugs, I mean aliens. This makes no sense because they created the spray that mutated him. Peter Jackson needs to stick to epics like Lord of the Rings and not turn over projects like this to terrible first time writer/directors. The special effects were impressive. But even with that, I would say it deserves a zero. But since I have to give at least a 1, so be it. If you're expecting and want epic science fiction, don't waste your time or money on this garbage.
