Watched this movie waiting for Beetle Juice to play in the theater. It instantly grabbed our attention and we thought maybe we were in the wrong theater. We were captivated by what would normally feel like a simple storyline and the depth of the actors. The synopsis says it all but it's so much more emotionally involved than the plot implies. It feels like the cliche never judge a book by its cover. These characters further portray the idea that you never know what a person is going through. Even the part where they mention their parents, J's character holds back the details and yet you still feel extreme apathy. Just watch it! It's worth it.
I came across this movie after doing one of my BET+ searches. Hadn't ever heard of it before but after watching the trailer, I decided to tune in and I must say that I was pleasantly surprised considering I had already watched three films that were a bit mediocre. This one had an excellent plot and storyline, the fight scenes were not bad considering and the actors did really well and it didn't look low budget as I have been accustomed to as of late so I am giving it a 10 out of 10 not to say that it was perfect but to balance out some of the other reviews that just seem absolutely ridiculously low for no reason because this actually was a good quality film. Kudos to all parties involved.
Even with the description, I wasn't sure what to expect. I was still unclear as I watched the first few moments of home videos. As the story began to unfold I understood clearly as I could certainly relate to the difficulties imposed by the incarceration of a loved one. This story was captured so beautifully in the decision of black and white imagery. The film left me with hope and the desire to "never give up".
