This was not the best movie ever made. If it were much longer than 82 minutes it might have been much less interesting. But it was entertaining and amusing at that length. I also think that Fred Astaire proves once again that the seemingly effortless grace and style and rhythm and yes, even charm, that he displays in "I wanna be a dancing man" places him in the very top echelon of modern day dancers. Bojangles. Fred Astaire. Bob Fosse. And perhaps a dancer who has not yet been discovered. For 82 minutes of inconsequential entertainment you could do much worse than this. And did anyone else notice that the effects presage Mary Poppins some ten years later? I love to laugh.....lol...

The funniest movie I've seen in years. A parody of Star Trek, and yet original in almost every respect. This would have been one of the best Star Trek episodes ever made, but the humor in Star Trek would have been mostly unintentional.

Ignore the apologists - this really is the worst movie ever made. The plot is a lame effort to make narrative sense of the album. The dialogue is amateurishly written and usually is poorly delivered. When you see the Bee Gees and Peter Frampton attempting to act you jump out of your seat to shout "don't give up your day jobs!". The music is absolutely positively horrid - with the exception of a killer "Come Together" by Aerosmith and a decent "Get Back" by Billy Preston. At least some of the actors purposely went "over the top" with their perfromances - Steve Martin in the Maxwell's Silver Hammer number comes to mind.

I still highly recommend this movie as a cult classic "so bad it is good" kind of experience. How on earth did they ever manage schedules to bring together all these acts at the top of their popularity? Framptom, the Bee Gees, Earth Wind and Fire, Sha Na Na?!, Aerosmith?!,Billy Preston, Alice Cooper....Be sure to keep a sharp eye open at the end when the album cover is reprised with a new crowd of faces. Anyone who was anyone in 1978 is somewhere in the picture. Could that really be Dame Edna standing next to Carol Channing in 1978? A must see, even though - it really is the worst movie ever made.
