I wasn't expecting to much of this movie when I went into the theater but I had been waiting for it for many years. To sum it up, it was pretty damn good! Chad Michael Murray was pretty good, I thought he was going to be another Chris Flynn from Wrong Turn but I was wrong. Elisha Cuthbert was also good but the best performance has to go to Brian Van Holt. He played the bad guy too well, I mean he was sick, sadistic, and very cruel. The back story between the brothers was good, plus I liked how no killings took place until about 40 minutes into the film. It gave you time to pick the character you wanted to see live and the one you wanted to see die. Jon Abrahams was pretty good as the goofy best bud of CMM. I liked how Chad kind of cried when he found him dead, it was better then just him being like, "Whatever, my buddy is dead, who cares". It showed how he really cared. So overall, this was a darn god slasher with some great effects. Bravo!
I went into the theater expecting just another teen sex romp and thats half of what I got, but there was more to the story than sex. It had many hilarious moments, the sad moments were believable and not just stupid. I was also expecting more nudity but it was quiet mild, the sexual content is what you have to worry about. Emile Hirsh was damn good and Paul Dano as Klitz was great. The stunning Elisha Cuthbert was awesome, I swear her smile could light up a room a thousand feet underground. All around The Girl Next Door is a great teen comedy, the director stepped up about fifty stairs from The Animal. This movie in my opinion makes American Pie look like a fly and The Girl Next Door the spider. This is a movie I could watch again and again, the soundtrack was also great. This movie is up there in my opinion with Animal House and Fast Time at Ridgemont High.
I knew about this movie before the trailer was on the net, and since day one it had my attention. I went into the theater looking forward to what I was about to see and I have to tell you, this movie was GREAT! It was everything I wanted it to be, it had thrills, laughs, and drama. I thought Ashton Kutcher was pretty good in it, I though maybe his acting would ruin the movie but no, he did a good job. After it was over I realized that I was completely satisfied and knew it had to be one of my favorites. So great job to the writer/director and the actors, Elden Henson was very good along with William Lee Scott. So I give this movie 5 out of 5, it was damn good!
