It goes without saying that Arcane is an artistic masterpiece. It's impossible to ignore how much love and hard work artists behind this show have put into each frame. It's incredible. Season 2 also significantly ups the game with sound design/mix and music. However, unfortunately that's where the praises end after the finale of season 2.

Without going into the spoiler territory, Arcane season 2 fails to narratively make sense and no amount of visual and auditory artistry can fix it. Character from season 1 seems to be different people in season 2 all of a sudden, and their motives are messy, unclear, and seemingly change in matters of minutes. Sometimes it genuinely feels like you have missed an episode in between because how things suddenly change in a seemingly short amount of time. All the new characters and plots seem to add little to the main story, and character arches end up in confusing and unsatisfying places. I wish the show runners would have focused more on delivering a tight and satisfying story rather than focusing too much on expanding the world or caring so much about how many DEI boxes are ticked. It's hard to ignore how season 2 is trying sacrifice the show and heavy handedly emphasize "certain tones" without them being fully justified in the grand scheme of things.

All in all, Arcane art is just too good to ignore and even though narratively the show is lacking, it's still a feast for the eye and ear and is recommended.

It's a story of an older widow leaving alone. The lead actress and actor are both good at portraying the complexities in social life of older people. The small details in their back and forths are very lovely. In fact, the script is very touching and eye opening and masterfully written at large. The movie is also beautifully shot and the locations and set/costume designs are nice.

All these being said, there are two main issues with this movie. First, it has an unnecessary political undertone in it which takes away from the rather lovely human story it's trying to say. I've noticed that this is a common theme in Iranian movies these days as the directors try to appease to the western festivals. Secondly, the last 10-20 minute of the movie is just bad. It seemed the writers just deliberately decided to sabotage their own story. Instead of delivering a satisfying conclusion to the rather beautifully told story, the movie just leaves you confused and frustrated. What a waste.

Well I wouldn't be lying if I'd say I was expecting anything special going into this.

It's your same old same old exorcism story with all the familiar things you'd expect. Nothing new. Even though the blueprint already exists for this genre, the implementation in this movie is also nothing to wrote home about. Nothing stands out in a good way.

All in all, a forgettable "scary" movie that honestly is not even scary.

I don't recommend this one. Save your money and time.

If you are craving for an exorcism movie, do yourself a favor and watch the "Exorcist (1973)" or even "Exorcism of Emely Rose.
