  • Japanese VHS. No DVD anywhere yet.

I don't know of the Argentine VHS release but I own an original Japanese VHS release on the TCC Video label. It's not even that good of a film. Rather hokey but perhaps enjoyable for fans of trash cinema (like myself). I doubt that any major U.S. video companies will be jumping at the chance to put this one out on DVD. However, it would be nice to see it in a nice widescreen transfer. The Japanese VHS is full screen (pan & scan) with only letterboxed opening credits. I don;t know much about the director but was wondering if he did any other horror flicks or if this was just a cash in attempt at the zombie craze of the late 70's into early 80's.

  • The last "Black Emanuelle" film...

This is in fact part of the "Black Emanuelle" series. Not that the series had any continuity from one film to the next anyway. In this, the last of the series, Emanuelle (Gemser) is wrongfully imprisoned because she was on the brink of exposing criminal activity in the local police department. There is a flashback sequence which explains this. How anyone could watch this film and NOT notice this, saying it is NOT an Emanuelle movie is beyond me. In the opening scene the prison holds a stage play of monologues where each girl tells her name and story. Gemser's character clearly states "My name is Emanuelle, and I am a woman." I sincerely hope that the people who are leaving comments about films on the database have at least SEEN the films they are talking about. Unless of course they're just seeing some edited US video release.

  • It's an acquired taste, but not a bad thing...

These 70's "Black" Emanuelle films from Joe D'Amato are no blockbusters but they sure can be enjoyable cheesfests and certainly have a huge following. Many guys like these just for the eye candy of Laura Gemser (can you blame us?). I personally like them because they ARE cheesy. Cheesy can be fun. But some people are dissatisfied with cheesy 70's Euro films if they aren't Oscar material. These are an acquired taste. The best of them being EMANUELLE IN AMERICA (the uncut import version only not the old VidAmerica release) and EMANUELLE AND THE LAST CANNIBALS (for fans of sex/horror). And FYI these films are Italian, but most of the cast are in fact speaking English. I still can't understand why their voices were re-dubbed unless it was to cover up some of the actors heavy Italian accents.
