Lighten up people! I'm writing this review just to counter all the 1 star votes. It wasn't as good as the original but it was still a good popcorn flick. They aren't trying to win academy awards for goodness sakes.
This movie was exactly what a summer movie should be. It was light, funny, and short enough. It didn't take itself too serious.
The actors, IMO, did a very good job as well. They gave our entire audience quite a few chuckles. Enjoyed the cameos as well.
The only knock I can come up with is the horrible new Ghostbusters song. Sometimes they should just leave well enough alone.

I saw this movie last night with some friends. I must admit the first 30 minutes of the film were simply fantastic. The pace and promise showed initially had us all very involved in the film and excited to where the film would take us. Scarlett Johansson and Morgan Freeman were exceptional for this opening act.
The reason I gave it a 6 was pacing. The story proceeds much too quickly in the middle 3rd and Scarlett Johansson become almost robotic. The loss of human qualities proceeds much too quickly. This caused me and my group to care very little about her fate. Morgan Freeman was noticeably absent during this portion and his exceptional acting ability was sorely missed.
The final 3rd of the movie was simply OK. Some will like the ending while other will abhor it. I will not give any spoilers but my opinion is that the writers and directors tried to be too clever and failed to deliver an ending worthy of the cast.

This remake pales in comparison to the original Red Dwn to be sure. That said, people on this site need to lighten up! It is still a fun flick.
The movie contained the perfect amount of cheesy dialogue and unbelievable scenarios to make for a perfect 95 minutes. Grab a tub of popcorn and sit back and enjoy. The cast provides enough eye candy for both the male & female movie viewer as well. Speaking of the cast, Josh, from Drake & Josh, is worth the price of admission alone. He is simply so unbelievable as a hero it makes for great cinema.
Honestly, the rest of the cast is good, not great. The plot is not good but really makes up for is with action scenes and a great patriotic feel at the end.
Go USA & Go Wolverines!
