  • Good Film !!!

Hollywood suits should be forced to see STRICTLY BACKGROUND to understand the honor, pathos and love of craft as evidenced by the background players featured in this film. The film has humor, desperation and hope. You will grow close to these individuals through their honesty and determination. In many ways the film mirrors life. You try to find something that fits you and you do your best. But your fate is in the hands of the movie gods. They hire and fire and if you're lucky they promote you. This film is for everyone. You do not have to be a movie fan to enjoy the stories the film unfolds. As someone who has been an extra, director and producer I highly recommend STRICTLY BACKGROUND.

  • The Best Ahab

Actor Gregory Peck felt he was totally miscast at Captain Ahab. He felt his quiet personality was at odds with the mercurial temperament of the crazy sea captain. Peck felt that the persona of John Huston was much closer to the lead character. But a funding decision had much to do with the casting of Gregory Peck, who was bankable. (as they say) Moby Dick was not a great sea story. It was a great story of Ahab's megalomania. This is why so many great minds were drawn to the character. John Barrymore, Orson Wells and John Huston were all drawn to Ahab. "I'd strike the sun if it insulted me. All of life is but a pasteboard mask. Ahab, beware of Ahab ! These quotes from Herman's Melville's masterpiece show why the writing is held in such high regard today. Thats why- to my taste Melville's classical blank verse prose is best done in MOBY DICK (1978) staring Shakespearean trained Jack Aranson in the role of the crazy wily sea captain. "And the great shroud of the sea rolls on,- as it has for 2000 years." Final words of Herman Mellville's masterpiece MOBY DICK.

Explains to executives a successful manner of dealing with the public as demonstrated by the officials of the Systech Financial Story.

    CINE for Library of Congress

The Systech Story is on a permanent library card in the Library of Congress. It was put there by CINE which is a quasi-governmental film recognition organization as an example of America in action. Many of the people associated with the landmark fast- cut film went on to successful producing careers. Russ Dodson went to produce KILL THE GOLDEN GOOSE. Fred Berney produced ONCE UPON A COFFEE HOUSE. Producer/director John Robert produced Jack Aranson's MOBY DICK. James Polofof produced MIDNIGHT AUTO SUPPLY. Carol Polokof produced several features.
