Rewatching this show decades later. It really is the definitive, classic, goat teen situation comedy. The countless Disney, network and other production teen sitcoms which followed are copies of its humour, characters, story lines with variations. I've watched them all with my kids.
Watching saved by the bell now is even more fun than when I was a kid. It's an amazing time capsule of 80s, 90s nostalgia in the fashion and culture of those times. There is adult and meta humour I missed as a kid. Like Lisa saying she's 'just an ordinary, beautiful girl.' Self satire before that sort of comedy was a thing. Zack the lead character breaks the 4th wall and talks to us the audience. We feel included in this group of fun, good-looking friends laughing at screech. After a long day at school the show used to give me a lift. Now as a working middle aged man with kids it still makes me laugh. Teen sitcoms in the decades since haven't surpassed it or dated it in terms of quality at all.
