I was very disappointed in this movie. It was little better than a school nativity play. Everything holy has been taken out of the nativity story. There are no dramatic moments, your heart never races watching it. Also cinematographic it is bleak.
Mary and Joseph and the other holy figures are just like anyone, homely and ordinary people. I mean: everybody of course know that they were poor, I do not mean that, I mean that they have no inner light shining through their outward commonness. And Gabriel is downright wrong, there is nothing archangelic over him at all here, he is a weird and ugly being. Also he turns up on several occasions, when the Gospel just mentions one, to argue with a strange-looking devil (???).
The worst thing though is that many of the events are not according to the Gospels. Avoid this movie, and instead watch the first part of "Jesus of Nazareth" from 1977. That filming of the nativity story and the whole life of Jesus, is unparallelled!

This was a great disappointment, something of the worst, dirtiest, most pretentious, oddest, worst directed, worst composed, and least meaningful I have ever seen. It made me feel depressed and sad - I.e. The opposite of how movies are supposed to make you feel.
The only thing it had to offer, was a few naked bodies, sex talk and groping - something that could maybe appeal to people who feel too holy (or WOKE) to be watching pornography, but still like to watch it under the pretence of being intellectual.
The worst thing was that two of my favourite actors were in it: Benny F. And Mehmet K. But this didn't help: it worked the other way round - to make me feel less positive towards these two actors. Why DID they have to take part in this..? I feel ashame on their behalf!

I gave up on this one halfway into the first series. It started out very nicely: who, who has had small children themselves, cannot identify with a parent's worst nightmare..? I suppose, by the way, that one is meant to think of the McCann tragedy - a British three-year old gone missing when the family is on holiday abroad - and the mother of the little boy has also been made to look a lot like Mrs McCann.
The first efforts of detection, finds and surprises were also exciting. But soon it became too dark a drama, or should I say too grey? Too much raw violence, drugs addicts, criminal gangs made up of young people from the suburbs... Then the suspense wore off.
Another problem is that it moves to and fro in time; this is very seldom a good idea. It only becomes confusing.
