This movie is very average. Feels like a tv show budget. The bad guy is almost non existent. Kraven is totally non-relatable as a character. He would be a third rate marvel hero. Cgi is okay-ish and the overall premise of the movie is just meh.
The most positive thing is Russell Crowe as a Russian gangstah. Now that's a show I'd like to watch.
This movie feels generic and full of cliches. The other positive thing is that Aaron Taylor Johnson could pull off playing Bond. He just needs to age few more years. And to bulk down a bit though .
Now, I need 36 more characters to post this...I'm Batman. :)

So basically what Costner wanted to do here is to take a tv show format and present it to the movie audience. Basically to have a continuous episode like movie delivery and a long term viewer hooked in. However....it does not work. That is why the shows like this are getting streamed on netflix. Movies are a more compact format. More epic and faster paced. Let's take the good the bad and the ugly for example. Leone managed to put an entire story in a 2:30-3:00 movie (depending on ehich version you are watching). And it's a great movie since the first act shows who the characters are, what they are like, then the second act is all about the adventure, third is the entanglement and the fourth is the climax between all of them, which made that movie perfect. This one has neither. Just some characters popping out every 30minutes, which is what tv shows do. If Costner was smart he would take the remaining sequels and turn this into a tv show consisting of 3-4 1.5 hour long episodes. This would be a hit as a show. As a movie, not so much. It is peetty nicely shot but laaaaags and draaags on forever. What I'm trying to say, watch it on your on accountability 😔
I've just finished watching this one, around December 2024. Decided to give it a go, after watching almost everyhting else there is. Aaaannd boy was I in for a surprise. This movie is actually a hidden gem. Has certain depth to it, makes you feel every moment of the injustice and prison sentence the main character goes through. All of which make the end soooo satisfying. I saw some reviews stating how mediocre this movie is. It is true to a point, but it has aged pretty well and it was pretty good one tbh. Maybe it is so good, because the new stuff is just pointless and pretty bad, however I found it to be pretty deep, emotional and tense. So I went with 7/10. If it were a bit longer, let'say 2.5 hours or maybe even 3, it might have been a masterpiece. It has such potential and can go head to head against some cult prison dramas out there.
