I very much enjoy this version of The Tick, but I have one small beef. This may sound old-fashioned to some, but I find the use of swearing in The Tick to be extremely gratuitous and it detracts from the overall experience.
Don't get me wrong... I'm no prude. I swear like a sailor much of the time. But to me, dropping F-bombs (or worse) for no apparent reason in a scripted series is lazy writing, especially in a show that was once a family-friendly program. It's like tuning into a reboot of The Flintstones to find that Fred and Barney suddenly sound like characters from Goodfellas. It doesn't fit and feels awkward and forced.
I have never read the Tick comics, so I don't know how it is handled in that realm, but in the animated series and the Fox series, it was PG (in terms of language) most of the time. I can't understand why they didn't simply follow the precedent set in earlier iterations.

I really enjoy(ed) this show. I use parens since I don't know if the show is still alive, on hiatus or cancelled. There's no reference to it at history.com, so I'll assume it's just in limbo and will return.
Roger Daltry's a great host and he dives right into the environment in which he's placed, whether it's a warship circa War of 1812 or a re-enactment of a field encampment from the Revolutionary War. He tries, among other things, the food they (the soldiers/sailors, etc.) ate, the weapons they used and the bunks in which they slept. Extreme History is a fun series that doesn't take itself terribly seriously though you still manage to walk away having learned something.

SWC is one of the most cleverly written shows ever. with blatant disregard for political correctness, it goes beyond the limits of good taste with hilarious results. nothing is sacred and that is the point. it breaks down what is supposedly insulting and taboo. the characters are ugly, obnoxious, deviant, criminal and deliciously hysterical. if you love dark comedy with absolutely no redeeming value, do yourself a favor and watch this show.
