  • An Overrated, Overhyped Disappointment

I am absolutely shocked that Anora won Best Picture at the Oscars-let alone five awards! I watched it when it was nominated, and even then, I was dumbfounded. What did the Academy see in this film? In my opinion, it was nothing more than a glorified soft po*n with an empty, uninspired plot.

The film completely lacks compelling characters, making it nearly impossible to feel invested in the story. Around the hour mark, I was so disengaged that I considered turning it off and simply reading the summary from somewhere-a rare move for me. Ironically, the written synopsis ended up being more gripping than the actual movie. Out of respect for an Oscar nomination, I went back...fast forwarded and made it to the end credit!

This has to be one of the most undeserving Oscar winners in recent memory. The overwhelming critical acclaim is unfathomable and defies all logic. I never imagined it would actually win Best Picture, but here we are.

Save yourself the time and skip this one. You're not missing anything!

  • A Sequel No One Asked For

What a shame, what an absolute letdown of epic proportions. The decision to revisit the world of *Gladiator*, a film that has long stood as a masterpiece of cinematic storytelling, feels not only unnecessary but disrespectful to its legacy. There was no compelling reason to tarnish the sanctity of such an epic with this sequel. This felt like a production house's desperate attempt to cash in on nostalgia, hoping the goodwill of fans would carry it to box office success.

But here's the thing: if you're going to touch something so sacred, you have to bring more than just ambition and a marketing strategy. You have to bring heart, soul, and a story that demands to be told. None of that was present here. Instead, what we got felt like a shallow imitation of greatness, a hollow shell of what *Gladiator* represented.

As the minutes dragged on, I felt an almost overwhelming urge to walk out of the theater. The pacing was uneven, the characters lacked depth, and the essence of what made the original so extraordinary was entirely absent. Yet, out of sheer respect for Ridley Scott-whose body of work has shaped so much of modern cinema-I stayed. I held on, hoping for a redemption arc, a moment of brilliance that would justify the film's existence. Unfortunately, that moment never came.

It's heartbreaking to see a legacy like this diminished in such a way. Some stories are best left untouched, and *Gladiator* was one of them. Instead of enriching the legacy, this sequel serves as a painful reminder of how greed can overshadow artistry. It leaves me not only disappointed but also deeply frustrated.

  • a perfect show with a superb ending of season 1

I know its only June, but this has to be one of best shows from Bangladesh in 2021. Hats off to the creator Ashfaque Nipun. Top work from the Mosharrof Karim, one of his very best works. This show is a perfect blend of crime, drama, suspense and thriller. Top notch acting from everyone that has to be said, great casting, perfect direction and background score. Initial pace was a bit slow but when it picked the pace then it was simply too good.

Keep up the good work and a very big thumb up for the team!
