I rented this movie because I was big Michael Vartan fan and was shocked to see that they were able make him look very unattractive and unappealing. Didn't know you could do that to a guy. It was easy to make Natasha's character look unattractive - her 80's hairstyle looked bad even in the 80s and her clothes were frumpy. She is great looking and so is he; why the ugly duckling transformation? I didn't see any sparks between them (perhaps the actors couldn't see past the bad makeup, hair and clothing either) and was very disappointed with the movie. If anyone plans to see this, I would suggest being familiar with how the actors actually look (both very hot!) and then watch the movie without your glasses/contacts. I won't even go into the strange accent of the best girlfriend, Olivia D'Abo...
Very disappointed, after waiting months for this movie to come out. I'm a huge King fan but I have to wonder if the director/writers even read his book. I gave this a "2", only because I really like Damian Lewis and the alien worms were well done. I felt the dialogue was very amateurish at best, more like a B movie set at the beach with horny coeds. I expected great things from the "Big Chill" creative force. Mr. King handed him great dialogue, on a platter, and he dumbed it down. "Bogus move, L".
I truly enjoyed this mini-series. I felt that Damian Lewis' portrayal of Soames was truly award-winning. After seeing him in other roles (most notably Band of Brothers), I am even more impressed with his range. I also don't agree with those who felt that the Irene' should have been played by a "prettier" actress. I felt that Gina McKee's true beauty was exposed once you looked at the person inside, exactly as Irene's was. I would recommend this to anyone!
