Really disappointing this now, after a pretty strong start. There is so much to riff off in this subject area - virtuous beginnings, becoming pragmatic for the greater good, making compromises, genuine struggles between actions and beliefs etc whereas this show has degenerated into one long d-ck joke (I'm saying it's a long joke ok).
A few glimpses of humanity (eg S4E1) but then the point is... what? These people are irredeemably self serving? They're not even some sort of anti-heros you can love to hate, these loathsome characters are only really worthy of hate.
I'm sure that this corresponds with some of the grifters out there, but it doesn't make for interesting TV.

One of my all time top hate watches. Agree with all the points raised in other negative reviews. Also enjoy the presence of ersatz A/B-listers, your faux Hilary Swank, Oscar Isaac, Colin Hanks generics etc. Repeated breaches of ethics, procedures, the law and so on and so forth on the regular. Many examples of the 'let's just zoom into this pixelated image to find the number plate' approach to using technology. Guaranteed three groans between every ad break.
What sets it apart however is that it just takes itself so damn seriously. It's sub-NCIS level writing, but with none of the winks to the audience.
Everyone please watch and enjoy.

Maybe my expectations were tempered with the low average review for this (5.5 as I write) , but I really enjoyed this. We rewatched the original last night (though I must have seen this 20 times before) and it did help some of the jokes land in the sequel. Seeing the old characters was a bit of a nostalgia trip - so what! The original was not exactly ground breaking cinema and had a predictable arc, but was great scene by scene, and this is pretty much the same. Will watch again. (Maybe I've given one star more than warranted on account of the final musical act.)
