This is another short I saw in my Canadian cinema class. A man sits alone at a bar, and while nursing his beer. He witnessed a fight, broke it up, and sits on the guy who started it. Recited some poetry of Al Purdy. Based on a story by Canadian poet Al Purdy, starring The Tragically Hip's Gord Downie. It would suffice to say that I loved every minute of it. Wonderful camera work, the poetry is astounding and extremely well represented in the film. This short is also somewhat self-reflexive as so many musicals are and (at the risk of sounding pretentious) as we all know plot in a musical is almost a cop out but here this style of narrative works. And works REALY well. Such a pity that it was so short.
I first saw this film in my Canadian cinema class. It is arguably the best thing I have ever seen this term. The shots are amazing. The main character is silent bob, on steroids, with the competitive spirit of an Olympic champion. This film has something for everyone. It's a little action, romance, experimental, comedy, drama, and documentary. All tied in one awesome package!
