Every Sci-Fi enthusiast should share
their first experience of watching The Matrix.
This film set a trend whose influence is still evident 25 years later, a rare feat for any film.
I've likely watched this film over 20 times, and I still believe there's no other Sci-Fi movie quite like it (Inception came close).
It represents the pinnacle of the '90s film industry.
The direction of the film is exceptional; you can palpably sense the difference between being in the Matrix and being in the real world. The action sequences are amazing and have stood the test of time; the cinematography and special effects are impressive. And of course, one cannot overlook the iconic bullet time. Keanu Reeves as Neo, Laurence Fishburne as Morpheus, and Carrie-Anne Moss as Trinity form the revered trio of acting.

I saw this film with my dad on my 25" CRT TV on a VHS in 1999.
I still remember the iconic spaceship revel above the New York city and I thought to myself "Wow" Since then have seen this film multiple times.
The special effects were top notch for the time, I was blown away by them, the destruction of New your city felt so real. Story is also fine.
I feel all characters were nicely developed. The action scenes were great too.
This film will always be close to my heart as it is one of the earliest Si Fi films I saw.
I think 90's were the best time for Si Fi films, many iconic SiFi films were released in the 90's and Independence Day is one of them.

Roland Emmerich directed "Independence Day" which is one of my favorite Si Fi alien films and a very iconic film of 90's. I still remember i was only 8 years old when I saw Independence Day on a VHS with my dad, That big spaceship revel above New York city, what a great memory.
But since then, all his films have been very disappointing, as a filmmaker he has not evolved and he's still making films like he made in the 90's.
The story is mediocre and at times very Chessy.
I sincerely hope that Emmerich starts evolving his film making before studios stop giving him films, the overall plots of his films are still interesting as far as Si Fi alien films are concerned, if he can bring some changes to his technique of storytelling and higher better script writers then I don't see why Emmerich can't make a comeback.
