I think the team behind this TV show really created a well-balanced cocktail of elements that are in harmony with each other. The screenplay and the plots in a detective story style deal with very varied themes and not even as obvious as is generally the case. The direction does its duty by certainly exploiting the sublime Sicilian locations but also creating the right suspense in the scenes related to the detective track. But the element that the direction renders well and that an amazingly close-knit cast brings out in a disruptive way is a profoundly Sicilian irony, thanks to a perfect scenic rhythm and some really hilarious gimmicks. The character who serves as the deus ex machina of irony on stage is certainly Piccionello, who, however, would not render in any way if it were not for the talented protagonist (Claudio Gioè) Salvatore Lamanna and the charming Suleima (Ester Pantano). I preferred this series to the most famous one about Inspector Montalbano because irony reigns supreme here, although there are stories that are also full of pathos and moving. And the choice of irony wins out over the sometimes too gloomy atmosphere of Montalbano's stories.
This is a great comedy that makes you laugh out loud and even cry a bit, in some moments. The Cast is Great and I don't understand who wrote that it is crap! I believe that people can't recognize anymore the wuality of a work of art. A lot of movies that deserve attention are unfairly denigrated. This is not a 1/10 movie. It's absurd. People don't think anymore... Where is finished a good taste for movies. Don't believe in the 1/10 reviews and see this movie. It was a lot of time I didn't laugh out loud watching a movie. It has a sophisticated irony and a lot of ideas! I really enjoyed Adam Sandler as all the Cast and in particular I loved Allison Strong performance, playng Adam Sandler's daughter. Didn't know Robert Smigel before but I really hope that he will work again with Adam Sandler, writing with him, and directing him. I'm so sorry that a lot of people wrote against your work! I hope you (Adam Sandler, Robert Smigel, and all the people who worked in this movie), I hope you will read my words, as all the words of sane reviewer that loved your movie, like me, cause I felt it with my heart!
My opinion is really simple: I believe that Neo Yokio is pure artistic genius! I loved it since the first minute till the end.
I loved the way it is written and the way it was created! Cause I could see an heart, a pure heart in every idea you can find in this anime! I really say Thank You to Ezra Koenig for how he put his powerful imagination in this work! Like everything is way far too original for the standards a lot of people didn't understand this opera.
Well I hope that it will be understood, day by day, by a lot of people! It deserves the Cult status.
