This cartoon was just way ahead of its time and is one of the catalysts for the sarcastic cartoons of the 1990's and 2000's. This show was not meant for children and was absolutely hysterical to two college kids in 1988 who would not miss an episode (me and my college roomy Tavis). It is worth the watch. Remember this was one of the first truly sarcastic cartoons pre Simpson's so watch it with that in mind. So sit back relax and enjoy the show and just remember "Bat Bat I see that you brought the Bug Wonder...oh yeah...I see you brought Merv Griffin". How can you beat quality entertainment like that with quotes like this.
This story had some potential but the dialogue was weak, the academic debate/history/scienxe was even weaker, and the cliché/stereotyping made this tale a bit difficult to digest. This story is a cross between K-Pax and Sideways where it tries to make a point about belief and honesty but is rather drown in narcissistic behavior and some rather large "leaps of faith" both from a character development point of view and its historic journey. Science fiction has a tough time showing a journey from point A to B to C and so on without adding the element of something we feel familiar or comfortable with rather than allowing the charter to introduce us to something new, logical or in this example, ones unique journey. Unfortunately, this is the trap The Man from Earth falls into. If the storyline just stayed more on course with the main character's journey it would have made for a much more interesting outcome. It is, however, worth the watch for the sheer value of critical thought.
It's nice to finally have an optimistic show. This is just one of those shows where the episodes are just fun and nothing more. Ted is nothing more than an escape for our nutty world and I for one am all for this.
You cannot take this show seriously that's the secret to really enjoy Ted Lasso. It's like listening to a band who really are not great musicians but are a lot of fun. Not to say the actors are bad or the writing is bad, it's rather good actually, but the story line is just not realistic, it's extremely predictable, and takes some unrealistic turns.
If I had to say one thing negative about the show is that the show is basically about alcoholic sex attics who try to project that they are there for group/team/clique but rather they are clearly out for themselves. The show is in essence a double entendre. However enjoy Ted. It's awesome.
