For many years it was confusing to admit that you're a Transformers fan, because for most people this meant the action movies of Michael Bay, which had nice explosions and CGI visuals, but lacked the warmth of the cartoons. Thanks to Travis Knight, this is no longer the case. His "Bumblebee" is a special kind of a movie, one which truly warms your soul. Bee is very likeable here and so is his human friend Charlie, while the baddies are actually scary, particularly the villainous Shatter. Surprisingly, the action scenes, although not as many as in Bayformers, are actually better due to Knight's huge experience as an animator. All in all, a delightful movie, which can be compared with the classic movie E.T.
Rarely I write negative reviews as I always try to find something positive in a movie, particularly it if features one of my favorite actors. I am a fan of Hayden Christensen and enjoyed his performances in Star Wars, Jumper and Outcast, however they all had some plot and a normal storyline. This movie might be a simulation of PTSD-induced psychosis, I have no idea, but if so, it should have been a documentary. As it is, it is unpleasant to watch and difficult to follow. 2 stars and only because of Hayden. Otherwise it is a solid 1 star - one of the worst movies I have ever watched.
"Batman Unlimited: Animal Instincts" is pure fun and probably better than all of the gory cartoons, which were released recently /although I loved them as well!/. The movie is very nice, with great animation and charming cast of heroes, who fight beastly villains and try to uncover a nefarious plot of the Penguin! To be honest, I like this new Bat-team better than the Justice League or the Avengers - all of the selected heroes are my favorites! I am particularly happy that Nightwing is among them - he is a favorite of mine and I still hope that one day, hopefully sooner rather than later, we'll see a movie, dedicated to him alone. But here he is still cool and so are the rest of heroes! Overall, the movie is great fun and non-stop action from the beginning to the end, which is always nice. Heartily recommended.
