It's silly, but I wasn't bored and I enjoyed the 90s nostalgia. This isn't one of those elevated horror movies that the genre has offered lately; you probably won't find yourself pondering it days later, as you process nuances or deeper meanings. But if you're bored and looking to be entertained, especially if you were a teen or 20 something in the 90s, you might enjoy this.
I do agree with other reviewers that there may have been a missed opportunity here with the general concept. Anyone who was old enough to experience the existential dread that was the lead up to New Year's Eve 1999, should be able to see the potential. Anyone not old enough to have experienced that, should probably skip this movie, as it will seem ridiculous (and maybe it was ;)).

I went into this knowing nothing about this movie, except the genre. I am glad that that was the case! I had no expectations and was able to just let the plot unfold and experience the discovery right along with the protagonists. I really enjoyed it. If it's not too late, I'd recommend not reading the plot summary or any detailed reviews before watching.
It starts out feeling a bit like a family drama but pay attention because sprinkled throughout are little plot supporting elements. You might even reach a point where you'll be wondering just what in the world is going on. Don't worry... it's all explained fairly neatly before it's done. Just hang in there!

There is a lot of harsh criticism in the reviews. It's not exactly what those viewers were looking for. This is a different take on a fairly familiar concept. It moves along at a quick pace and kept my interest. There is just enough character development that I felt invested enough, though, I will say I felt a little overwhelmed for a beat, as you're introduced to 11 characters pretty much all at once. I was a little distracted during the first few minutes eating a taco, though, so I'll assume that was my fault. It's a little twisty and twisted, but in a good way. I say, if you don't take your movies too seriously and are just looking for some fluffy fun horror/comedy/thriller, this will do the job nicely! If you're looking for something deep and artistic, maybe keep looking. The current 4.8 rating is unfairly low. I've seen lots of better rated, less entertaining movies. I'd say give it a shot!
