  • So good to see this again!

I really loved this film when I saw it on TV back in 1983, and always hoped I could see it again one day - but it never seemed to get repeated on UK tv after that for some reason.

So I was delighted to see it was on YouTube, and it was so good to see it once more.

It's quite a Hitchcockian story, with the main character witnessing a murder at an elite meeting at a semi-derelict mansion near the start - and how then he is silenced by the elite group to keep the murder hushed-up in a most unusual and extraordinary way.

I don't want to give too much of the story away for anyone who's never seen it, so that's all I'll say - you'll have to see for yourself!

I loved all the locations too, some not far from where I live, including the long-gone Wooburn Green village train station.

Louis Jourdan is solid as the lead, and Mary Tyler-Moore perfect as the co-star, as well as a whole host of famous faces in supporting roles.

It's an intriguing story full of twists and turns, and a very entertaining and unusual film.

    Discovering Lennon

  • Strange days indeed...

After reading some of the reviews on here, I watched this with a bit of caution.

As others have said, this doc focuses almost entirely on his political activism, & pretty-much ignores anything else about his life other than his death.

The problem is the talking heads chosen, most of whom I didn't recognize! A singer called Paloma Faith simply talked about her mother's love of Lennon, which was a bit pointless.

The worst was Robert Elms, who is known for actively despising Lennon & The Beatles, & most of what he said was complete nonsense.

Why didn't they get some people who genuinely knew or worked with Lennon?

And, contrary to the show's title, we discovered very little that was new about him - it reminded me of a group of students in a bar who loosely know about him having what they think is a serious discussion.

I did enjoy the clips of John, so I raised my rating to a 6 - but if you're a genuine fan, I'd say to steer clear.

  • The Twin Dilemma!

In this third episode, Catweazle is settling into his new home at Duck Halt, while mindful of the need to locate the next sign of the zodiac he requires - the Heavenly Twins of Gemini.

Over at King's Farthing, preparations are under way for a big outdoor party to celebrate Cedric's birthday, with lots of local children invited - with Cedric not 100% as enthusiastic about it as he maybe should be!

Just by chance, Catweazle bumps into the children's magician (Vandanti) who has been invited to be the entertainment at Cedric's party - and it's not long before they both rock up at King's Farthing, with the magic show maybe not going entirely as planned...

This is another memorable and fun episode, and great to see Paul Eddington on good form as Vandanti.

You do wonder early on how Catweazle will actually find the sign he's looking for this time - but once again, fate works in his favour.

The actual magic show itself is funny and silly - I remember my young son really giggling loudly along with it when I first showed him this episode.

Catweazle also comes up with a little song near the start of the episode - the magic riddle set to the tune of his own theme music, which is another nice touch.
