The show is funny and quirky. The setting of 19th century Spain is a nice change to the "typical" 19th century setting of England. (Maybe I have just read way too many novels from that time period.)
The show is well designed and written with all its plot twists and surprises, and I would have given it a very high rating but I was very disappointed in the very end of the show. The next season was sooo set up that the emotional satisfaction was lacking. Don't build up a main character and her arch to end on such a cliffhanger. Especially when it's not an action show but a romance story. I felt cheated and now feel forced to watch season 2 - which I would have watched anyway, if I had been actually happy with the ending.
The characters are all very well written. I love that it's so female centered and that all of them are so unique. Even the other companions have their own story lines.

This show was very fun to watch. A young woman finding her own power and walking her own path separate from her husband and her mother, just wanting to be her own person. It touches on some serious topics such as alcohol abuse and parentification as well as the rather patriarchal world view of Ting who just wants his wife to behave. But it's always a comedy with the perfect amount of emotional depth. Siaja swims free of all the expectations and carves her own space into the world.
I have been wanting more indigenous stories and representation for a long time and I'm so glad it's coming. Please make more like this.
I also enjoyed the setting of the story in this extremely remote place with all its harshness and beauty.
What I really loved: the music editing on this show was perfection.

The movie was rated R in the USA and should be rated at least 16 in Germany due to the content of the movie: two hitmen trying to kill a boy for what he knows. And the level of violence is not suited for 12 year olds. The FSK made a mistake rating this movie.
My review: It's a fast paced chase movie which brilliant actors. The hitmen are quite violent and single minded in their pursuit of the people who know too much. Angelina Jolie does a great job of playing a haunted fire fighter. The actor who plays Connor is also really good. The ending was emotionally satisfying but I was missing the fallout from the interview.
