Can't remember such an great portuguese film since Os Imortais from out beloved Antonio Pedro Vasconcelos.
With a moving performance Sérgio Praia encarnates Antonio Variações near perfection but the whole cast delivers very very well.
I think the plot is bit schematic and the narrative seems somewhat erratic at times, but the film becomes very beautiful and moving as it shows us the colorful personality of Antonio in (still) a very grey country.
It's very curious that the musical repertoir that builds the soundtrack is composed almost entirely of less known songs, with the exception of Canção do Engate, i bet this was intentional.
Excellent tribute to a unique man and performer.

Never seen such a important issue like the Israel/Palestine conflict treated so poorly and ultimately in such a disrespectful manner.
The acting is appalling and the script seems to have been written by amateurs, with more plot holes than a suisse cheese. Saddens me to see a good actor like Emile Hirsch envolved with such a bad movie.
Movies that adress real life situations have the responsability to work as educational tool for the audience, but this one goes in the opposite direction.
All the victims of this horrible war that lasts for decades deserved a better homage.
I love cinema, this is not cinema.

Somebody wrote that the s/t helps to endure this total misconception of a film. I really don't think so.
The acting is very poor, the director seems to do not know where is wants to go with the story (too many forward and back in time).
Adolescence and it's troubles treated addressed in a light, careless way.
The soundtrack is in fact quite good but it's just layed randomly, like a diletante listening to the music but understanding nothing.
Some of the actors work mostly in soap operas, wich might help to explain such a lame performance.
It's not a bad movie but a lost chance and that is always bad.
